Our B&B is within 10 minutes walking distance from Antwerp Central Station and De Keyserlei, the city's main street, within 15 minutes walking distance from Meir and Schuttershofstraat, Antwerp's main shopping streets - paradise for people who love fashion and trendy shops - de Grote Markt (Main Square) with its famous Town Hall and Brabo Statue and Groenplaats (Green Square) with its restaurants and bars, Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (Our Lady's Cathedral) and last but certainly not least our impressive River Scheldt which throughout the centuries has brought prosperity and wealth to Antwerp.
B&B Alegria is located in a lively international part of town with all kinds of exotic shops, restaurants and markets. Just one street away you will find China Street with its Asian shops and all kinds of oriental restaurants where they still serve you the authentic oriental cuisine.
Our house is a so called 'burgerwoning' (built by middle-class people) constructed in 1928, recently renovated with conservation of the original Art Deco elements but adapted to present-day's comfort.
It will be our pleasure to advice you where to find attractive places and special activities in Antwerp.

The B&B room has its own private bathroom with washbasin, toilet and shower, bedroom and spacious living-area. You will have a flatcreen TV at your disposal. There is the possibility to use the wireless internet for free. An airco is at your disposal when requested.
You will start your day in an excellent way with a freshly made Antwerp breakfast, which at your request can be served in your livingroom or with good weather in our cosy city garden.

When you do not want to worry about your car, we would like to advice you to visit Antwerp by train. It's easy, comfortable and fast. B&B Alegria lies within a few minutes walking distance from the Central Station. All information about train departures, arrivals and rates can be found on the website of the Belgian Railways
Antwerp city is so compact that you can visit everything by foot. To discover the city by bike is also a good option. You can rent a bike at Antwerpen Fietshaven which is located in the central station.
Flemish Public Transportation Service De Lijn is responsible for public transport by tram, subway and bus in Antwerp and Flanders. Service is efficient and convenient. Just around the corner of B&B Alegria you will find the subway station Elisabeth. From here you can take the subway to the centre of town (station Groenplaats).

For the foodies among us :
Every Saturday and Sunday morning culinary journalist Daphne Aalders organises an exotic walk through our international neighbourhood of Antwerp-North. You will visit with her all kinds of exotic shops. The theme changes every week, from Thai, Chinese, Indonesian, Moroccan to Turkish, Greek, Jewish etc.
After the walk you will prepare together with Daphne a meal in her cooking workshop with the ingredients from the shops you have visited. After all the 'hard' work it's time to enjoy and eat what you have prepared. A wonderful start of your Antwerp visit! The culinary walk with cooking and enjoying the meal afterwards ends at about 2pm/3pm. Interested? Culinary walks start at 10am (Saturday) and 11am (Sunday) at De Coninckplein 4, just around the corner of B&B Alegria.

For many years Tango Aan De Stroom has already organised milonga's, workshops and activities concerning Argentinian tango on different nice and unique locations in Antwerp. Most tango activities inside take place in the Old Bathhouse, just two streets away from B&B Alegria.
Do you like a city tour with a completely different approach?
Discover exciting, thrilling, mysterious, fairy-like or just creepy locations in Antwerp in a relaxing atmosphere.
The Antwerp canals or ruien as they are known reveal a part of Antwerp’s history. The 1.6-km RUIen walk re-opens this piece of historic heritage once again to the public and lets you explore part of the belly of the inner city. Choose between the ‘Long RUI’ (guided visit) and the ‘Short RUI’ (visit without a guide).
Take a walk with an experienced guide through the belly of a modern city, with no danger to your health and dressed in a RUI protective suit wearing boots… A subterranean adventure and an exhibition about the history of the ruien. Once above-ground you can put any questions you might have to your guide after which you walk back above-ground to the Ruihuis.
